18 Months!

Hayley is officially 18 months old! She had her actual check up on Tuesday of this week and she is 26 pounds (75th percentile) and 34 inches tall (97th percentile). She is way over expectations with words - they said she should say 10 and she says tons more then that. She had 3 shots, and did awesome. She barely cried after the third one. She was friendly to Dr. Sabo, and said "bye" to everyone we passed on the way out.

She is certainly struggling with listening these days. Which becomes trying for Dave and I, and it's hard when she cries a lot for not getting what she wants. But it is just a phase and this too shall pass. She is incredibly cute and funny and makes us laugh everyday, and that really makes up for all the frustration. She loves to help clean up, she throws her own clothes in the laundry at night, and she picks out what she wants to wear in the morning (with some assistance). She recently got a "crib" for her baby dolls, and she thinks it's hers. To end this entry, I will share with you my 18 month old trying to squeeze herself into her play crib. What a trip!

Since Christmas

Well, the holidays fell upon us and the craziness began. Once Christmas came, things got so busy and I had so many pictures and videos to post and I knew how time consuming it would be to post, so I decided to procrastinate. Well, a month has gone by now, and I have decided to make this easy for all of us. Here is my top 10 list of big moments to report and record since Christmas 2009!

1. Jacob and Asha came to visit for a week. We saw them everyday, including a trip to Boston to the Children's Museum. It was a wonderful time. Nora loved Hayley who loved Josiah, and around and around and around. It was a perfect week. I love Christmas so much, definitely my favorite holiday, but having the family all together for Christmas really makes it even more of a blessing.

2. Dave and I hosted another Oakes Family Christmas at our house. About 20 people filed in to our little house and we had a great day of yummy food and Harvey Wallbangers. This included Dad and Ann and the girls, who also came up for the holiday. It was so nice to get to see them on Christmas. I am really glad my North Carolina family made an effort to come to us this year. Hayley remembered them from September, which was very cool. Lisa and Rob and the kids stayed with us one night, too. It is always a pleasure to visit with them.

3. Hayley got her first teeth!! On December 29th, Asha (no, not me) noticed that Hayley had two front teeth on the bottom! Yeah! 17 months old! She still remains to have only those two. They are getting a bit bigger and coming in pretty good. But still so funny to just have those two. Her molars are very swollen back there and I have a feeling those are next to come in - before ANY on the top! It's just so darn cute!

4. Grandpa turned 94 years old! I went out to dinner with the Ray family and Grandpa to celebrate his birthday and yadadada - he got his collar off too! He looked so dapper in a dress shirt and blazer. I almost teared up just at the sight of him. I am so lucky to have such an amazing Grandfather.

5. Hayley had her first overnight away from home. Last Friday she stayed overnight at my mom's. Of course, she did fantastically, and we will be sure to start doing this more frequently. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Dave and I got to go out to dinner with friends and stay out as late as we wanted, didn't have to pay a sitter, and got to sleep in in the morning!

6. Greg and Brittany took a spontaneous trip to New York City and so Dave and I took the train in to the city from New Haven (first time we have ever done this together) and spent the day with them. It was cold but so fun and so worth it. Another thing we will be sure to start doing more frequently now that we know how easy it is!

7. Hayley and I took a day trip to Boston to visit Chelsea and see her and Matt's new place. It was a great afternoon and we had so much fun. Sushi for lunch and Hayley stuffed her face with edamame. She loves that stuff! Chelsea's place is gorgeous, and she's gonna host a Pampered Chef party, too! Does that make this trip a business expense?

8. Hayley's verbal skills broke out like a banchey! She just started talking and is now to the point of I can't count how many words she says. A new word everyday pops up. She says mommy, daddy, no, yes, I don't know, mine, cup, bowl, out, stroller, hat, ball, coat, shoes, boots, book, night-night, eat, seat, crib, baby, up, down, done, more, milk, juice, socks, off, bottle, poop, diaper, elmo, Hayley, Lily, tons of animal noises, oh gosh, the list goes on. She also has named a few things on her own, here are some of our favorites: seppy - pacifier; Poppop - Grandpa Pete; Nona - Nora; Dodie - Josie.

9. My Pampered Chef business is going really well! I can officially say that I have started making money with the business, and have made up all my initial costs. It took me less than 90 days, which I think is fantastic, and I am still having no trouble booking shows. I am really glad that I chose to pick this up for some extra money. Not to mention that I love to use the product everyday!

And last but not least...

10. I am 9 weeks pregnant! Yeah! We are due on August 31st, and lemme just tell you right now, I am so so sick. I have been throwing up regularly and nauseous when I'm not in fact sick. My emotions are off the wall, from laughing hysterically at things that are not really funny, to crying at something not even that sad. I forgot how much my emotions come to the surface when I'm pregnant. eek! We are very sure it's going to be a boy this time, since I didn't have a speck of sickness with my first pregnancy. We are also very sure that this one is gonna be trouble. Hayley is so perfectly wonderful, we're bound to get a crazy one next! But we are so so happy. I wanted to be pregnant again so bad, and was so bummed every month when it didn't happen. And then it did!

So there you go. I'm back on the blog, and you're all caught up with the last months' news. I look forward to getting back on the ball with pictures and videos with you all, and thanks for your patience with my absence.
